Dove Family
There’s something magical about photographing a family session at home, especially during the holiday season. Over Thanksgiving weekend, I had the joy of stepping into this wonderful family’s world—right into the heart of their home, where real memories live. In-home sessions are some of my favorites because they allow families to relax, be themselves, and create photos that feel truly personal.
The real heart of this session? The boys.
These three were an absolute whirlwind of silliness, in the best possible way. They cracked jokes, made goofy faces, chased each other around, and kept the energy high from beginning to end. Every burst of laughter they let out made their parents laugh even harder. Watching Mom and Dad look at their boys with that mix of love, amusement, and pure joy reminded me why I adore capturing authentic family moments. There’s nothing like photographing kids being exactly who they are.
And of course, one of my favorite parts of every family session is sneaking mom and dad away for a few moments of their own. It’s easy to get swept up in the beautiful chaos of raising children, but I always think it’s important to remember where this family began: with just the two of them. Their couple portraits were sweet, relaxed, and full of that familiar spark. Those photos often end up being some of the most meaningful images from a session.
When I left their home that day, my heart felt full. Sessions like this are such a gift—getting to witness love, laughter, and real family connection right where it naturally happens. It’s why I feel so grateful to be a family photographer: I get to turn ordinary moments into timeless reminders of what matters most.
